Mission Statement
Riders can only achieve true harmony with their horses when they have a correct, relaxed, balanced seat. My goal is to harmonize the horse and rider using classical dressage principles.
Background
I was born into a family where riding horses is more than family tradition. Horses are in our blood and professional horsemanship stretches back six generations. I grew up on a horse and cattle ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and have ridden horses my entire life.
My mother owned and operated the first English riding school in Wyoming. I'm told my baby swing was often seen gently rocking back and forth in the middle of the arena while my mother supervised her students. My three sisters are all active horseman and my father not only rides, but still drives a team of Belgians in the winter to feed his cattle.
I started riding competitively at the age of eight and got my first taste of eventing at the age of ten when my parents sponsored the first USCTA registered horse trails in the state of Wyoming. In my teens, I attended the Foxcroft School in Middleburg Virginia and was an active member of the riding team. With the Foxcroft Riding Team, I competed extensively on the flat, over fences, and often on horses I had never seen before. During this period, I also continued in eventing and participated in the USEA Young Riders Program.
I have taught riding in Idaho, Wyoming, Ireland, and California. I have taught both 4-H and Pony Club. In fact, I am a proud graduate of both. I have been teaching dressage in the Bay Area for eight years.
I am an active member of the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) and an FEI competitor. Additionally, I hold a certificate as a USDF Certified Dressage Instructor, qualifying me to teach classical dressage at training, first, and second levels.
